Homework Success

Elementary school studentHomework Success is a new Eight Week Class to help parents and caregivers of elementary and middle school students who are struggling with ADHD improve their homework performance. This is a curriculum-based, small group program that begins in October, 2016. More information.


Social Skills Groups

WHO: For individuals with social difficulties such as making and maintaining friendships or feeling comfortable in social situations. Participants with ADHD, Social Anxiety, Depression, Anxiety, High Functioning individuals on the Autism Spectrum, or those with other moderate social impairments, will be grouped together appropriately based on age and mental health.

The following groups are forming:

  • High Functioning Young Adults on the Autism Spectrum
  • Adults (25 to 35-years-old) with ADHD / Social Anxiety / Depression
  • Teenagers (Grades 10 through 12) with ADHD / Anxiety / Depression
  • T.G.I.F. - Talking, Games, Imagination and Friends for Elementary School Students (Grades 3-5) with social difficulties Beginning December 2, 2013 for 12 weeks Acrobat PDF

WHAT: This structured functional group therapy program focuses on teaching social skills (socialization and social communication). The weekly sessions will include a psycho-educational segment, to learn and review social skills, and time to use social skills while playing fun games, “hanging out,” or conversing in a small group. Sessions include age-appropriate activities.

WHY: Participants completing this program will:

  • Learn skills to help them meet new friends, build and maintain friendships
  • Broaden their understanding of nonverbal communication and social situations
  • Enhance their skill development in areas of socialization, conversation, communication

Group leader Samantha Marks, PsyD, after graduating from Johns Hopkins University 15 years ago with Psychology and Education degrees, worked as a teacher, behavioral analyst for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and as a special education coordinator. Recently earning her PsyD degree from Universidad Carlos Albizu, she enjoys teaching social skills and helping clients to improve their interpersonal relationships and social lives as part of a comprehensive therapy.
